How to update the Aadhaar Card address online with the Document proof?

  1. Go to Aadhaar’s Self Service Update Portal (SSUP) by clicking here https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/

  1. Click on “Proceed to update Aadhaar.” Here a new window will open; you will see two options “Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number or 16 digits Virtual ID to begin”.
  2. Now, enter your Aadhaar number or Virtual ID and Captcha
  3. Click on Send OTP or TOTP. You will receive a unique 6 (in case of OTP) or 8 digits (in case of TOTP) to log in at the portal. Make sure that your mobile number is registered in UIDAI’s database. Otherwise, read here “How to register Mobile Number to Aadhaar Card.”
  4. Once it gets a login, tick on the address option to update your address in your Aadhaar details online.
  5. Enter your updated residential address as mentioned in Proof of Address (PoA)
  6.  you can also modify your address by clicking on the “Modify; option.
  1. After submitting the correct and updated address, click on the “Submit Update Request” button to update your address details.
  2. Now, you are required to select the document type from the drop-down list you want to submit as proof of address. 
  3. Upload the scanned copy of the address proof for verification purpose and click on the “Submit” button.
  4. A confirmation box would appear on the screen. Read through it and click yes
  5. Select the BPO service provider that will help to verify your details.
  6. The selected BPO service provider verifies that the details mentioned in the form matches with the proof of address and forwards your request to UIDAI.
  7. Once the details are verified, your update request will be accepted, and an Acknowledgement Slip is provided to you

Note: The acknowledgment slip provided to you would contain the Update Request Number (URN). With the help of URN, you can check your updated Aadhaar status.  

How to update Aadhaar Card address online without the Document proof?

Are you got stuck on updating your address in the Aadhaar card because you don’t have any address proof? Well, there is no need to worry. You are just not aware that you can also update the address on your Aadhaar Card without having address proof. 

The government has launched a new facility of “Address Validation Letter” to change and update the details of an applicant.

Here are the steps to follow for Aadhaar address updation:

1. Go to the official website of UIDAI https://uidai.gov.in/or directly by https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/under Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal.

2. Click on the option “Request for Address Validation Letter.”

3. Here, enter your Aadhaar card number or virtual ID and click on Send OTP or Enter TOPT

4. Click on login. Once it gets logged in, a new window will open, asking for submitting the “Address verifier’s Aadhaar.”

Note: An Address Verifier can be a family member, relative, friend, landlord who is willing to let you use their address as proof.

5. After submitting the request, a message will be sent to the Aadhaar verifier’s registered mobile number.

6. An OTP will be sent to the verifier’s registered mobile number with UIDAI. The SMS will also contain a link to verify the applicant’s request.

7. Here, the verifier has to click on the link and login into the account, 

8. After login, he has to enter the OTP received and confirm the request of the applicant.

9. Once the verifier approves the request, an SMS is sent to your registered mobile number. The SMS will contain the SRN and the link to submit the application.

10. Now, at your portal, you are required to enter the SRN and OTP received through SMS

11. Verify the details and click on “Submit Update Request” to complete the application process.

12: After approval, the verifier’s address will be updated on your Aadhaar card.

How to update the address in Aadhaar Card through Post 

If you are not able to visit to find the nearest center to update your address in the Aadhaar card, then you have the option to fill out the form at home and send it by post to get updated. 

Here is what you have to do to update the address in Aadhaar Card through Post: 

  1. Go to https://uidai.gov.in/images/UpdateRequestFormV5.pdfto download the Aadhaar address Update/Correction Form.

  1. Fill out the form with all necessary details 
  2. After filing up, take out the print of the form
  3. Now, attach the self-attested photocopies of identity or address proof as required for verification
  4. Put the form and documents in the envelop and send it to the following address:

Note: Your update takes around 90 days to be completed. After that, the new Aadhar card will be delivered at your registered address. Make sure you are present at the time of delivery.

Update details by visiting the nearest Aadhaar enrollment center

You can update your name, mobile number, date of birth, etc., by visiting the nearest Aadhaar enrollment center. All you need to follow a simple procedure, as mentioned below.  

Although the process is almost the same the forms required updating the details are different. Therefore, make sure you are asking for the relevant Aadhaar updation form at the enrolment center.

How to update the mobile number in the Aadhaar card? 

It is common to change the mobile number as per the requirements. However, it is necessary to update or change the mobile number in the Aadhaar card because, for availing of any facility, you have to submit an OTP. Such OTP is always received on your registered mobile number linked to the UIDAI portal. 

Therefore, it is of utmost importance to update your mobile number as soon as you change the same. Otherwise, it will be difficult for you to avail of the benefit of Aadhaar linked services.

  1. Approach your nearest Aadhaar enrolment center
  2. Fill out the Aadhaar update form with the required details and the correct date of birth. To change your date of birth, you will have to submit proof of the correct date of birth with the form.
  3. After submitting the form and proof of DOB at the center, the enrolment officer will take your biometrics
  4. Once the biometric is verified, the officer will give you an acknowledgment slip containing a URN number. This URN number can be used to track the status of updation.

How can I know if my Aadhaar update request has been processed? 

Once the updates have been processed, you will receive an SMS. It will say that your update has been processed successfully. You can check the update status from https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/checkSSUPStatus/checkupdatestatus by providing your updated details.

What could be the reasons for rejecting the Aadhaar update request?
