How to Get Your Aadhaar Card Reprint & Track Its Status : The Aadhaar card has heavily established itself as a must-have document for confirming the identities of a significant number of Indian citizens. Managed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), this unique 12-digit identification number serves as more than just a card. What Is An Aadhaar Card?

An Aadhaar card is an exceptional document containing an individual’s biometric and demographic details. The 12-digit identifier, popularly referred to as the Aadhaar number, on this card, serves the dual purpose of identity verification and address validation, with each number being exclusively associated with the respective person.

Although registering for an Aadhaar card is not required, it is strongly advised due to its many advantages, like KYC verification and ITR filing. As mentioned, the Aadhaar card can be obtained in both hard and soft copy formats, we shall go into details about the possibility of an Aadhaar card reprint, which is another option offered by UIDAI.

Aadhaar Card Reprint: What Does it Mean?

On December 1st, 2018, UIDAI launched the “Order Aadhaar Reprint” service as an experimental assistance. It gives Indian citizens a simple way to get their Aadhaar card reprinted. People who have lost their Aadhaar card or who need a new copy of it will particularly benefit from this service.

You can still reprint an Aadhaar reprint even if your mobile number isn’t linked to your Aadhaar record by using an alternate/non-registered number.

Note: It should be noted that this is a paid service with a pre-request cost of Rs. 50 (including GST and delivery charges).

How to Order Aadhaar Card Reprint?

There are three ways to request an Aadhaar card reprint. First, you’ll need your Virtual Identification number (VID) or Aadhaar number to order a reprint of your Aadhaar card. VID is a temporary, random 16-digit number that is associated with your Aadhaar number.

Visit (https://resident.uidai.gov.in/vid-generation), if you want to generate or get your VID. Now, let’s move on to the next steps that will help you in reprinting your Aadhaar card.

  1. From UIDAI Website

The steps to request the reprint of the Aadhaar card are as follows:

Step 1: Go to [https://uidai.gov.in/] to access the official website of UIDAI.

Step 2: Tap on “My Aadhaar” and from the menu under “Get Aadhaar”, choose “Order Aadhaar Reprint.”

Step 3: Now, you’ll be redirected to a new window where you must enter your Aadhaar card number, VID number, or EID number (Enrolment ID) to request an Aadhaar reprint.

Step 4: Enter the security code exactly as it appears to you.

Step 5: If your mobile number is registered with the Aadhaar record, click the “My mobile is not registered” checkbox to request a new reprint using a different mobile number.

Step 6: To get the OTP on your registered mobile number or an alternate number, click “Send OTP.”

Step 7: Enter the OTP you got and review the information displayed. If everything is right and correct, select “Make Payment.”

Step 8: After that, you will be taken to a new page where you have to pay the service fee of INR 50 with net banking, UPI, debit card, or credit card.

Step 9: After the successful payment, you can download and keep the receipt for the Aadhaar reprint for your records. It will have an authorized digital signature.

Step 10: Your registered or alternate mobile number will receive an SMS with a Service Request Number (SRN). You can track the status of your Aadhaar card using SRN.

  1. By mAadhaar Application

The UIDAI has also launched an application for both Android and iOS users, called “mAadhaar,” which is available on Google Play Store and Apple Store. This app offers a number of services, including the feature to order an Aadhar reprint.

Follow these steps to request an Aadhaar reprint using the “mAadhaar” app:

Step 1: Launch your Android/iOS device and go to the Play Store or App Store.

Step 2: Use the search bar, enter “mAadhaar app”, download it, and register yourself.

Step 3: Go to “Order Aadhaar Reprint.”

Step 4: A notice will be displayed to you. Now, check the box next to “Terms and Conditions”.

Step 5: Hit on “OK”, then you’ll be given the choice between “I have a registered mobile number” and an “Unregistered mobile number.”

Step 6: If your mobile number is registered, choose option one. Enter the captcha code, fill in your Aadhaar number, and ask for an OTP >>> Enter the OTP.

Step 7: Enter your Aadhaar number, the captcha code, and the mobile number, If you select the second option, to which you want to get the OTP sent >>> Enter the OTP.

Step 8: Go ahead and complete the procedure by making an INR 50 online payment.

Step 9: You will receive a confirmation receipt after making the payment that includes a Service Request Number. You can use this number to track the progress of the delivery of your Aadhaar card.

  1. Aadhaar Enrolment Centre

Visiting the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre is another option to make a request for a duplicate Aadhaar card to be printed. You can request a reprint at the enrolment centre and get a receipt with a Service Request Number (SRN) that lets you follow the progress of your Aadhaar card.
